Susuwe Island Lodge is situated on the Birre Island in the
Kwando River within the Bwabwata National Park. The island's
vegetation consists of tall river trees and overlooks the Kalahari
woodlands and floodplains of the Kwando River. The main area
is built around trees with elevated decks overlooking the Kwando
River.
Eight private suites of brick and thatch are built within the
river forest. Each suite has a wooden viewing deck with private
plunge pool. Activities at Susuwe Island Lodge are mostly game
based, including drives within the Kwando triangle, visiting
Horseshoe bend and Long Lagoon and Morkoro and Boat trips. Bird
watching is excellent in this area. Guided walks have an emphasis
on Afro botanical (medicinal uses of plants and trees) and environmental
information, along game viewing.
