The roads in Namibia are generally in a good condition and easy to travel. Most main roads are tarred, but gravel roads are generally used when visiting tourist attractions and places of interest. The conditions of these gravel roads vary, depending on frequency of maintenance and seasonal rainfalls. On the whole, most roads can be travelled by sedan vehicles. However we recommend four-wheel drive vehicles (Double Cabs), VW Touran or VW Microbusses. These vehicles have suitable tyres for travelling on gravel roads and better ground clearance. They also have enough interior space to allow for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. The only advantage of sedan vehicles is the lower price.
