The roads in Namibia are very good and can be travel on. Most
of the stretches are tarred, on one of the normal Namibia Tours,
however many of the roads travelled on are in bad condition and
are in need of constant maintenance. Almost all of the roads
can be travelled on by standard vehicles without four-wheel drive.
However we strongly advise the use of fitter vehicles such as
4x4 D/Cab, the new Toyota Condor or the VW Bus. These vehicles
have the appropriate distance from the ground and suitable tyres
for the potholes and the necessary space in the interior. Suited
for a comfortable and relaxing holiday.
With the 4x4 Single Cabs the interior is very restricted and
the seat is not adjustable. The vehicle is overall too small
for two persons. There is no space for cameras or drinking water.
For the smaller vehicles only the price is the deciding factor.
One should always order and travel with a second spare tyre.
With all vehicles the bad roads must be suitably and carefully
travelled.
Car rental agents are Europcar Namibia with Europcar Car Rental
Terms and Conditions.
All Europcar vehicles are less then 2 years old and have less
then 100000 km on the odometer. This should always be taken into
consideration, as in Namibia a section has been renting 10 year
old vehicles.
One should always select Super Cover Insurance.
In the event of negligence (i.e. alcohol, drugs or off-road
driving) but also in the event of not informing Europcar about
crossing borders, non-registered drivers, not obeying traffic
laws or if the vehicle is used for a longer period of time without
informing Europcar or delayed information of an accident, then
the Super Cover Insurance is void. If an accident is caused without
participation of another vehicle, in this instance the Super
Cover Insurance is made void.
The Partial Cover vehicle is not covered in eventuality of
a accident, therefore the client is required to pay an excess
per credit card or pay cash in Namibia Dollars at the beginning
of rental.
If the vehicle is returned without damage the excess will be
returned in full.
If vehicle is damaged the client is liable for the damage up
to the amount of the excess. If accident is caused due to negiligent
driving or if accident caused on a gravel road without the involvement
of another vehicle or object the client is liable for the whole
amount of damage up to the value of the car. Damages to glass,
tyres, headlights and paintwork especially in sandstorms are
not covered by the excess.
For the Super Cover Insurance a reduced excess is required.
Rates include unlimited kilometres and value added tax (VAT).
Not included are
petrol costs
additional insurance for crossing borders
one way fees
insurance for loss or theft of personal items in car or petrol
It is recommended to have a travel insurance issued in country
of origin.
A cellular phone can be provided free of charge. Only the
calls made are charged at the end of the rental.
Rentals are accountable in 24 hours periods from pick up to
drop off.
Driver's must be over 23 years of age and have a valid International driver's licence. A younger driver will only be accepted if in the possession of a driver's licence for at least 2 years. Additional fee: Price on request
Vehicle's are only allowed to travel within Namibia, with
an approved and corresponding insurance in writing. This must
be applied for when booking.
For Zimbabwe there is an additional insurance as well as registration
papers (CVG-Form) required, fees payable at renter of that area.
Europcar reserves the right to exchange an equivalent vehilce
without notice.
Master and Visa cards are accepted.
