Namib Desert - Etosha Tour (9 days)

Day 1:
Travel from Windhoek across the rolling hills of the Khomas Hochland at an altitude of more than 2000 meters above sea level, down the Gamsberg Pass into the Namib - the oldest desert in the world. The landscape varies from rugged mountains and rocky outcrops to sand filled valleys and endless vistas of plains. After a short rest with lunch packs proceed through the Namib-Naukluft-Park, passing the waterholes Ganab and Hotsas where, with a bit of luck, one can see Ostriches, Springbok, Oryx and Mountain zebras. Then on to the Welwitschia Plain, where the Welwitschia plant, a living fossil, that is only found in the Namib and Southern Angola, occurs in large numbers. Drive to the so-called "moon valley" a fascinating rock formation which is millions of years old. Arrival in Swakopmund at about sunset. Lunch packs en route
Hansa Hotel (dinner / overnight).

Day 2:
After breakfast depart to Walvis Bay for a boat cruise with champagne, fresh oysters and snacks on board. Return to Swakopmund and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 3:
Drive via the tarred road into the interior, pass the Spitzkoppe and proceed to the beautiful Erongo mountain area. In the late afternoon sundowner drive.
Ai Aiba Lodge (full board / overnight)

Day 4:
Early morning start for a three hours drive in open vehicles on the premises of the lodge. Numerous pre-historic rock-paintings will draw you into the spell of mystic Africa. Afterwards proceed the Ugab terraces. Luch packs en route.
Vingerklip Lodge (dinner / overnight).

Day 5:
Trip proceeds to the famous Etosha National Park. First game viewing drive.
Okaukuejo, Halali or Namutoni (full board / overnight).

Days 6:
Full day game viewing in the Etosha National Park. This national park is one of the major sanctuaries for wildlife in Africa. The area was proclaimed a game reserve as far back as 1907. The size is 22 270 km2 and it consists mainly of grass and bush savannah. This type of landscape provides excellent opportunities for game viewing at the numerous waterholes or in the open countryside. The Etosha pan which the park is named after is approximately 6 000 km2 in size. In the language of the Oshiwambo people, Etosha means "place of dry water", or "large white place". Lunch break in between.

Days 7:
Full day of game viewing in the Etosha National Park.

Day 8:
After breakfast proceed via Tsumeb to the Hoba meteorite. En route visit Lake Otjikoto and the Mine Museum. Lunch packs en route. Optional visit the Rare and Endagered Species Trust, which is caring for the Namibia's most endangered species, the Cape Griffon Vulture.
Frans indongo Lodge (dinner / overnight).

Day 9:
Early morning (7:00 - 9:00h) game drive on the farm. Return to Windhoek via Okahandja with lunch at a Restaurant. Visit the graves of the Herero chiefs and of the German Schutztruppe. Arrival in Windhoek in the late afternoon.


Departure:
Windhoek. Pick up from hotel prior to arrangement.

Services included:
Overland trips and all sightseeing as per itinerary. Overnight in double rooms in hotels and rest camps. Full board throughout the tour. English speaking tour guide. Multilanguage is possible.
